Funeral Services for Fallen Officer David Ortiz

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association is sad to announce that Officer David Ortiz #2614 passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016.

Motor Officer Ortiz, a 9-year veteran assigned to the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center, died as a result of injuries he sustained when a 2006 Kia Optima crashed into his motorcycle while he was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Lee Treviño Dr. and Vista Del Sol Dr. on March 10.  The collision caused a chain reaction crash also involving a 2006 Acura and a 1976 Chevrolet pickup truck.  

Funeral services for Officer David Ortiz are as follows:

Thursday, March 17, 2016:

-Viewing from 4:00 to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Sunset Funeral Home, 9521 North Loop Dr.

Friday, March 18, 2016:

-Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 673 Old Hueco Tanks Road.

-Burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd.  Officer Ortiz will receive full Police Honors.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association asks that everyone please keep the entire Ortiz Family in their thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.  Officer Ortiz is the 31st El Paso Police Department officer to be killed in the line of duty.

A GoFundMe account has been established to assist the family.
