The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association extends its deepest condolences to the famiy, colleagues and friends of Officer Floyd East Jr., #635 of the Texas Tech Police Department. Officer East died in the line of duty at the age of 48, after being shot on Monday, October 9, 2017. Officer East was a commissioned peace officer with the Texas Tech University Police Department since May 1, 2017.
Lubbock police say Hollis Alvin Daniels III, 19 — a Tech freshman from Seguin, TX fatally shot Officer East as he was filling out paper work to book Mr. Daniels in connection with his arrest for drug possession in his residence hall at Texas Tech University. The shooting occurred in the campus police station and prompted a manhunt on the TTU campus, which was placed on lockdown.

Rosary at 9:00 AM at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette Dr., with the Funeral Mass to follow the Rosary.
After the Funeral Mass, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center invites everyone to a Memorial in honor of Officer East. It will take place from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Abraham Chavez Theater, 1 Civic Center Plaza. For additional information call (915) 215-4850.
EPPD Officers wishing to attend must obtain approval from their supervisors. Uniform will be CLASS A. Officers attending are asked to arrive before 8:15 AM, as there will be a "Cordon" to receive Officer East Jr. when the procession arrives at the church.
The EPMPOA asks that you please keep the entire East Family, especially his wife Carmen and his two teenage daughters Ana and Monica, in your thoughts and prayers.
