Funeral Services for Retired Lieutenant John E. Douglas

(Ret.) Lt. John E. Douglas, R.I.P.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association sadly announces the passing of retired Lieutenant John E. Douglas #117, who passed away on September 10, 2018 at the age of 83.  (Ret.) Lt. Douglas was the first African-American to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1977.  He served with the El Paso Police Department for 24+ years, from February 1960 until his retirement in December 1984.  After retiring from the Police Department, Mr. Douglas went on to serve as a Captain with the El Paso County Sheriff's Department until he retired from there in 1996.

Funeral Services for (Ret.) Lieutenant John Douglas are as follows:

Tuesday, September 18, 2018:

-Wake and Visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at San Jose Funeral Home, 10950 Pellicano Dr.

Wednesday, September 19, 2018:

-Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3400 Wyoming Ave.

-Following the funeral Mass, there will be a procession from the church to Everygreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Ave., for interment.

Retired Lieutenant John E. Douglas Sr. will receive Retired Police Honors.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association offers our most sincere condolences and asks that you please keep his wife Jessie and the entire Douglas Family in your thoughts and prayers.
