Special Traffic Investigators were called to investigate a crash that involved an unmarked police vehicle New Years Eve morning.

The crash happened Tuesday morning at 10:35 a.m. near the intersection of Gateway East and Lomaland.

According to police reports, Rene Diaz, 50, was driving northbound on Lomaland heading towards Gateway East when he failed to stop at a red light. His vehicle crashed into an unmarked police vehicle that was traveling east on Gateway East.
