UPDATE: A press conference to announce a fundraiser to raise money for signage for the Officer Angel David Garcia Memorial Interchange will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, August 13, 2021. It will be held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center, 1380 A and M Circle, El Paso, TX 79927. Scheduled to speak at the press conference are State Representative Art Fierro, EPMPOA President Michael Short, Eric Pearson, President/CEO of the El Paso Community Foundation, and members of Officer Garcia's family.
The EPMPOA has partnered with the El Paso Community Foundation and the office of District 79 State Representative Art Fierro, to raise funds to erect signage to honor fallen Officer Angel Garcia. The estimated cost of the project is $65,503.88. The El Paso Community Foundation has generously agreed to donate half of the cost.
This project is long overdue... we are hoping you will help us honor Officer Garcia and his family by contributing any amount you can.

On December 16, 2012, El Paso Police Officer Angel David Garcia #2866 died serving his beloved community. He was hit by a car while removing debris from Interstate 10. A dedicated public servant, Officer Garcia was an active member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and a graduate of Clint High School and El Paso Community College.
In 2013, then-Texas Governor Rick Perry signed House Bill 3946 to designate a portion of I-10 near Joe Battle Boulevard the “Officer Angel David Garcia Memorial Interchange.”
